Jerusalem
The Old City of Jerusalem is the most visited site in Israel, and for good reason! This city is ancient and modern, holy and secular, the most contentious city on earth and yet peaceful. It contains the Western wall, the Holy Sepulcher and Temple Mount. Markets, synagogues, churches, mosques, shops, restaurants, schools, homes and so much more! Muslims, Christians, Jews, religious and secular all live here. Every rock, every alley and building has a story! The surprises are endless!
Let’s sit together in an Arab restaurant owned by the same family since 1927. Across the street is a police stand on ancient Roman paving stones. The street is part of the Via Dolorosa, and the main access for Muslims to Temple Mount. And the Austrian Hospice is on the opposite corner if you fancy a good Apple Strudel. All this on one street corner!
Join me for some coffee in the Cotton market, put a note in the Western Wall and tour the Kotel tunnels, visit a 700-year-old tattoo parlor, buy some souvenirs & antiques on the Via Dolorosa, and refresh yourself with freshly squeezed pomegranate juice in the market.
I will show you the main attractions and many of the hidden gems of the Old City of Jerusalem. There really is no other city remotely like it in the world!
